The family dedicated itself to careful planting in the vineyard, and long maturation in the winery. Today I enjoyed the new vintages of several Vega Sicilia wines with Pablo Alvarez, one of the current owners who also acts as Managing Director. Pairing Vega Sicilia Wine at Tasca Restaurant.

Beyond maturation, each of the six Lugana wines had a slightly different taste profile depending on the vineyard soil. The Soils Most vineyards feature dense mineral-rich clay soil, mostly glacial moronic. Vineyards are in the clay soil on the southern shores of Garda Lake. Racy acidity characterized yet all the Lugana wines.

The Sustainability Program was launched in 2015 by CVRA (Comissão Vitivinicola Regional Alentejana). Some of these initiatives include biodiversity and ecosystems, soil management, renewable energy and water conservation. There are currently 1800 grape growers and 260 wineries in Alentejo.

In contrast: Ribera del Duero red wine vineyards are at a much higher elevation, giving the wines higher, more refreshing acidity. Neil Ruane, Export Manager for the USA from Boisset, was the first to speak about the delicious Boisset wines he brought. Delicious, with lots of lively, fresh, black raspberry flavors with well-integrated wood and manageable tannins. 2016 Volver La Mancha Single Vineyard Tempranillo ($15). “See, if I can see my fingers it’s not Cahors!” ” Some of the wines here are similarly opaque.

Their drive for quality and continuous improvement in the vineyards and winery were passed on from generation to generation. In 2011 another family-owned company of Tuscan wineries bought Bertani, but management and operations are kept separately. Bertani has over 200 hectares of vineyards in the most ideal areas of Verona province.

My dad and uncle Fili worked in the vineyards on weekends, and I helped out as a kid. During the event, I met many other producers or their export managers, and was pleased to see the quality of wine from these regions. And no doubt, some remain buried deep in the earth, perhaps near the Tenuta di Artimino vineyards itself.

So, with enthusiasm and determination, Rrustem returned to Kosovo with the Gecaj family and purchased the NBI Rahoveci winery renaming it Stone Castle Vineyards and Winery. In 2015, Avdi took over the winery’s operations, and he spends approximately nine months of the year in Kosovo.

Managers underpaid and overworked Black cooks and porters, beginning just after the Civil War, to trim the budget. A Crescent line menu from the 1980s offered wines from vineyards along the route. For the Virginia ham with orange raisin sauce they suggested a Winter White chardonnay from Pindar Vineyards in New York.
