Working together, Italo and Sergio replanted the vineyards and restored the farmstead. The vineyards have an excellent southern exposure at 985-623 feet above sea level and the mild Mediterranean climate contributes to maintaining the balance of the grapes acidity, sugar and aromas. You still get a lot of that strong oak influence, but it’s not quite as sweet. The wine is aged in “French oak, which is a little bit more of a modern take for Rioja,” adds Wines. “It It really does the wine a lot of favors. You get a lot more vanilla and baking spices. It just adds a lot of great complexity.”
