Besides supplying the world with fine wine, the vineyards support the workers and families all over Mendoza. Norton Chief Winemaker David Bonomi grew up in Argentina surrounded by vines, as his father had his own vineyards.

Cavit Pinot Noir IGT 2018. The grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir come from the vineyards of Provincia di Pavia in the Lombardy region of Italy. Urbans-Hof Wiltinger Kabinett Riesling 2018. The vineyard is on a site called Schlangengraben. The vineyard was planted in 1905 and is one of the oldest in the entire Mosel region.

So I was quite excited to taste this producer’s rosé The wine is a blend of 67% Syrah and 33% Mourvèdre grapes sourced from the stony limestone vineyards located in the hills above the bay of Marseille, next to Provence. Leitz Pinot Noir Rosé Trocken 2018. This sparkling wine is elegant and fun to drink.

The vineyard sits on 150 acres with vines that are 20+ years old.

So, with enthusiasm and determination, Rrustem returned to Kosovo with the Gecaj family and purchased the NBI Rahoveci winery renaming it Stone Castle Vineyards and Winery. Before the war, Kosovo had over 9000 hectares of vineyards with over a 2000 year history of winemaking. In 2008, Kosovo was recognized as an independent state.
